The TaeguTec CCMT 09T308 MT TT5080 is a premium 80° rhombic turning insert engineered for medium to medium-rough machining of steel, stainless and cast iron, finished in a PVD TiAlN+TiN coating and built on the TT5080 grade substrate for excellent wear resistance, chip control and extended tool life.
Unlock higher productivity and lower cost-per-part with the TaeguTec CCMT 09T308 MT TT5080 — now available at CNC Tools Depot, India’s largest marketplace for carbide inserts.
Stop frequent tool changes, reduce downtime and improve your surface finish — this insert delivers longer tool life, faster cutting, and ultimately a lower cost per component.
Geometry & Size: CCMT 09T308 “MT” series meaning positive 80° rhombic shape, suitable for medium-rough turning. Example spec: Inscribed circle (IC) 9.52 mm, thickness (S) 3.97 mm, cutting edge length approx. 9.7 mm.
Grade: TT5080 – a PVD-coated grade (TiAlN + TiN) on ultra-fine carbide substrate. Developed for a wide range of turning on stainless steels and high-temperature alloys, offering excellent fracture toughness and superior surface finish.
Coating: TiAlN + TiN (shown in TaeguTec catalogue for similar CCMT insert, e.g., CCMT 09T308 MT TT5080).
Chip-breaker / Clearance: MT chipbreaker (from model code) with ~7° clearance angle (for MT family).
Typical application range: Medium to medium-rough turning of steel, stainless steel and cast iron. The grade also supports stainless/higher alloys.
Fewer tool changes = less downtime: With a high-wear resistance coating and robust substrate, the TT5080 insert holds edge longer, letting you run batches with confidence.
Improved surface finish: The combination of geometry and coating gives better control of chip formation and less edge wear, which means smoother finishes and fewer rejects.
High versatility: Whether you’re turning general engineering steel, stainless components or even tougher alloys, this product covers the spectrum — so you don’t need to stock a dozen inserts for different materials.
Cost-efficient: By extending insert life and reducing scrap/rework, you drive down cost per component — a key goal for any machining shop.
Ideal for:
Automotive manufacturing (engine blocks, shafts, housings)
Aerospace components (where stainless and high-temp alloys are common)
Die & mould industry (steel & stainless tooling components)
General engineering (shafts, bearing housings, cast-iron parts)
It’s suitable for steel, stainless steel and cast iron in medium to medium-rough turning applications. The TT5080 grade further expands capability into higher temperature alloys
MT” refers to the chipbreaker/geometry family in TaeguTec’s catalog (for the positive 80° rhombic turning inserts with a clearance angle around 7°).
The TT5080 grade features a PVD TiAlN+TiN coating on an ultra-fine substrate, delivering higher wear resistance, better edge stability and longer life versus more standard grades
No — although the geometry is good for finishing to medium cuts, this insert is designed for medium to medium-rough turning as well. For extremely heavy roughing you may select another family, but this one gives you very good versatility.
